Judy McLean - Artist Statement

I began my creative journey  in 2007, working with Sacred Geometry which aligns with my spiritual and aetheric beliefs.  While travelling far and wide to many sacred sites, I was inspired by much of the ancient architecture and embellishments.   Using a compass and a straight edge, many complex and "coded" images can be created--most of which communicate a "message" to the artist and/ or the observer.  Much of my artwork translates spiritual concepts into the visual.  Crop circles also have been an extraordinary inspiration.  In addition, you will find aspects of numerology and astrology within my drawings.   To add color and dimension to my drawings, I used felt pens, watercolor pencil crayons and metallic inks.

Since moving to Canmore several years ago, I began to experiment with acrylics while enjoying the exquisite scenery, flora and fauna.  Because I am still developing a personal "style" of painting with acrylics, I am experiencing quite a range of different approaches.   It is a journey of self exploration and personal creativity.
