Stone Carver, Turner Valley, AB

Having grown up in the Alberta foothills near Turner Valley, the outdoors, animals, and nature have been important influences on my interests.  Carving is a wonderful way to pay tribute to our wonderful diversity of wildlife.  I gravitated to stone as my preferred medium.  It is very dusty but once the creature is exposed, it is truly exciting every time I carve.

My objective is to bring as much action and realism as possible to the outcome so the observer can relate to the creature’s character.  My work has been heavily influenced by the Inuit carvers of Nunavut where I continue to visit every year.
